Some people we help come to us with no open credit accounts. We can help repair and remove the negative accounts, but without open credit accounts in good standing, they will not see positive credit reports. This is something that can change with our help. A credit report is made up of both the good and the negative information. Even if you no longer have the negative information, not having positive information can be challenging as well. If you can it’s best to have some type of revolving debt each month.
Usually that consists of a credit card. If you cannot get an unsecured card, a secured card is a step in the right direction and will be very helpful. A secured card is very easy to get. You pay a deposit and your credit limit is most often the amount of your deposit. You have to use due diligence in researching these cards though. Some charge hefty fees for the privilege of getting their card. If you are enrolled in our credit repair program we will help you find a card that is right for you. We recommend having two cards for the quickest route of building positive credit. This will make a big difference for your credit score. Of course you must use the cards within reason and make your payments on time or it will not work.
Another way to positively improve your credit report is to have a relative or friend with good credit authorize you to use their credit card. This just requires them to call their credit card company and add you as an authorized user. They will need your social security number and add you on “in case of emergency”. You will get a card in your name and you will get their good credit standing applied to you within sixty days of their adding you to their account. This is a good way to start repairing your credit but you also need those new cards either secured or non-secured in your name. These are just an example of some of things we will help you with.
